My Cute Little Bug

Playin with my keys. Anything that is not a toy, is the best toy!
We had to try on the new beanie!

Playin' in his saucer and eating food. His two favorite things!

Corbing was making him and me laugh so hard!

Lincoln is getting soooo big! He is 71/2 months old already. I really can't believe how fast time flies. He is at such a fun age right now. At age 7 1/2 months Linc:
-smiles much more...he was a pretty sober kid for a long time, and has a contagious laugh
-loves to play peek-a-boo with Grandpa
-rolls in every direction
-loves, loves, loves food of every and any kind
-loves to play with his Dad
-is not to fond of the being at church for 3 hours each Sunday
-wants Mom and only Mom when he's tired, sad, or sick
-sits up to play with toys
-must hold everything and must put everything in his mouth
-loves to go to Grandma's house
-has one little tooth
-is letting me rock him to sleep again instead of only the swing
-has to play with hair to fall asleep
-is very attached to his binkie
-could read books all day if someone wants to read to him ALL DAY
-says dadadadadadada all day long
-reaches when he wants to be picked up
-is 19lbs. 10oz....yikes
-is the cutest little thing on the planet!

We feel so blessed to have so much joy in our home. Lincoln is a healthy, happy baby and we love him!

Peterson Family Pics

We went up to Little Cottonwood Canyon on November 1st for some family pics with the Peterson fam. The area was absolutely beautiful and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. We had a really good photographer too, who could always get Lincoln to look right at him. Here are just a few pictures that we took with our own camera...

Good luck to the Utes today! May the best team win!

Darn!

So we didn't win the costume contest, darn in! Sorry I didn't get it posted on my blog earlier. The voting went on for six days and on the fourth day, after calling and emailing people about it, my sister-in-law had the brilliant idea to post it on my blog...hello?! Thanks for all of those who voted! There's always next year!

PLEASE VOTE for the Cutest Monkey In Town!

Halloween was a blast! Kids definately make any holiday more fun. Poor Lincoln had to get in his costume 10 times! It was worth it though. My mom made the cutest, most amazing monkey costume for him. He looked like a little stuffed monkey...so adorable! Thanks so much mom!!! We had a lot of stops to get to to show off the costume so we started on it a day early.
Our first stop was to Grandma and Grandpa B's house. Lucky us, we made it there to see Kris and Emily with Megan and Mark as well!

The next stop was the surgical center that my aunt LaRae works at. The ladies there couldn't get enough of him! They took turns holding him and letting him pick candy out of their treat bowls.

Since we were in the area, we headed over to Sharp's Tarps to see Grandpa Sharp, Brandt, and Jordan.

That evening we were invited to a Halloween party at my friend Tonya's house. By the end of the night, Linc was completely worn out.

On Halloween we got up bright and early and got ready for the day. We met Hayley and Maddox at iFreedom to visit the Derek and Derik and to partake of all the delicious homemade chili. We had fun toting the monkey and the lion (Maddox) around to all of the desks. It was good to see Derek and to give him to have a little bit of a break from work! I dressed up as a pirate and Derek was a complete redneck... our costumes did not match at all. Good thing there's many more Halloween's to come! The worst part about it is that my camera died right when we got to iFreedom so no pics of that! Grrr!
When Derek got off work we headed down to see Grandma and Grandpa Peterson and Candice and Cody. We had some homemade pizza and a chocolate Halloween cake. Derek thought it would be funny to smear cake all over Linc's face...
Later that evening we cruised back up to West Jordan to Grandma and Grandpa Sharp's house. It's a tradition that we get together to have soup and rolls. All of Linc's cousins were dressed so cute as well. It made me excited to take Lincoln out trick-or-treating next year!

THANKS AGAIN GRANDMA SHARP for the CUTEST MONKEY COSTUME! WE LOVE YOU!

Okay, so here's the deal... We entered Lincoln in "Jessica's Jack-O-Cuties" contest on 97.1's website. So, if you're interested we would love it if you would vote for him. To do it you need to: Go to http://www.971zht.com/pages/halloween/cuties08/vote-02.html. Follow the directions that are listed on the page that pops up. Lincoln is ENTRY #169. Remember to check your email after you vote to confirm your vote. Also, you can only vote once per computer. Once you've voted, log onto our blog and leave a comment on this post. If we win we will draw from the list of names that is in our comment box and the winner will get $30. If you vote more than once let me know so I can enter you in the drawing more than once. THANKS for voting! We'll let you know the results. The deadline is November 13th at noon so hurry!

Six Random Facts

Here's a fun little tag from my friend Hayley!
RANDOMNESS
Here are the rules...
1. Link the person who tagged you http://hayleywelch.blogspot.com/
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write six random things about yourself
4. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website
Random things about the Peterson's...

1. Derek and I have been hooked on this card game called 'Nines'. It's so dang fun! Two of my older brothers introduced this game to us a while ago and we can't get enough of it. This past week and a half we've spent several nights playing on our bed right before we turn out the lights. Anyone who's up for a good time, let us know...we'll teach you and stay at your house playing until the wee hours of the morning! You'll like it too!

2. When Derek and I were dating we started this hand-squeezing thing . We would squeeze eachother's hands a certain amount of times and try to make the other person guess what we were "saying" with our squeeze... I know, so so cheesy! Anyway, we still continue to do it everytime we hold hands. Now we have our own secret hand-squeezing language!

3. Ever since Lincoln was born Derek has called him "the littlest bum". Kinda wierd, I know, and I couldn't figure out where he got that name or why he started calling him that. It wasn't until a few months ago that he let me in on his little secret. I was just going to explain what it meant, but as I'm typing this Derek says I can't blow Linc's secret identity. Some of you have already figured it out, but if you don't know where he got that name, you'll have to take it up with Derek. Sorry!

4. We do not like Cingular. We are seriously counting down the days until we are out of our contract...only 72 left! Sorry to all of you Cingular/AT&T lovers, but it has been nothing but trouble to us. We have gone through several phones, too expensive phone bills, lots of dropped calls, blah, blah, blah. We're thinking of either going back to Verizon, which we were on before, or to T-Mobile. What do you suggest?

5. We try to make it to California every year to see family and watch the Giants play. We LOVE San Francisco and Santa Rosa. We always get star treatment from Derek's Grandma's...they're amazing cooks. So the good food, mixed with a little golf, visiting, relaxing, shopping, baseball, Scrabble, and lots of laughs keep us dying to get back there. We've been 3 times since we were married and hope to be able to go back soon with Linc.

6. We really like Chinese food. We've actually become quite picky with our Chinese food selections. If we want inexpensive and fast we'll occasionally go to 'Panda', the next step up would be Pei Wei', a good and pretty nice place is 'Mandarin Palace', and if we want something divine and feel like spending a lot of money we'll hit up 'Asian Star'...the best! So all of you that love little cheap, hole-in-the wall Chinese places, we won't eat it with you...sorry!

I tag anyone who reads this!

So Blessed!

Lincoln Derek Peterson was blessed on June 22, 2008. It was such a perfect day. Derek gave Linc the most beautiful blessing I've ever heard...seriously. We had so many family and friends that traveled to support us on such a special day. After the blessing we went over to my parents house for a little luncheon. Thanks Mom and Dad for all the hard work you did to get ready for our big group. And thanks to everyone else for coming, and bringing food and gifts. It was so fun to see and visit with so many people!

I'm the TOUGHEST...I got a SHOT!

Lincoln has been for his 2 month and 4 month Dr. appointments already. He is growing so fast! At his 2 month appointment he weighed 11 lbs 7 oz. His height, weight, and head wear all in the 50th percentile...just an average Joe! Lincoln did well with his first shots. He cried, but I was able to feed him right away and calm him down. We watched him close for the next 48 hours and he did really well recovering. Derek and I had a hard time watching him go through that so Derek felt the need to get Lincoln a sticker to wear that day. It said, "You think you're tough, I'm the toughtest...I got a shot!" So cute!Sporting the sticker that Derek got for him. He doesn't look like the happiest camper!

The shots absolutely wore him out!

This is what the Dr. said about Lincoln at 4 months:

Weight: 15 lbs 8 0z...60th percentile

Height: 26 in...88th percentile

And I can't remember his head, but it was still in the 50th percentile. The funny thing about the whole thing is that he is considered "tall and skinny" because of the difference in his height and weight, but most would beg to differ. Lincoln's second round of shots was a bit tougher on him. He would only sleep if I held him, and even then it was just off and on. We decided to have a kick-back day after that rough night. I wanted to find Lincoln some comfy clothes to relax in. This is what we came up with:

A friend of mine gave him these baby scrubs...so so cute huh?!

He was so mellow and cuddly all day!
We're so happy to have a happy, healthy baby. He is getting more of a fun little personality each day!

Girls Day Out

Grandma Peterson and Lincoln

We met all the Ririe girls for lunch at Mimi's Cafe to celebrate Natalie's birthday. It's always so fun to get together with this family to catch up on old news and to laugh and visit. We need to get together more often!

Little Fishy

Lincoln takes after Derek's love for water. He could spend all day in the bath! We've been able to take him out swimming a few times this summer.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to Derek! I appreciate you so much. You are an amazing husband and father and provider! I love you! Also, Happy Father's Day to
Dad: Thanks for being such a great example. I'm so glad you're my Dad. You're such a wonderful Grandpa to Lincoln as well. And Happy Birthday!
Robert: You raised such a great man. Thanks for always making me feel so welcome in the family, and for being an awesome Grandpa!
This past Father's Day was great! We started off by heading to American Fork for little Maddox's blessing. What a special day for him and his family. Then we headed over to the Peterson's to wish the Dad's there a Happy Father's Day. Lucky for us, Grandma and Grandpa Peterson were in town. It was such a treat to see them and introduce them to Lincoln. After that we cruised to Centerville to celebrate the rest of the day with my family. We had a delicious dinner at the Brey's home and were able to visit outside in the warm weather. Then we went over to Brandt and Kelly's house to celebrate my Dad's Birthday. When we got home, Derek opened a new pair of jeans and some shoes to wear with them. It was a busy day, but so much fun!

Close Cousins

Lincoln's cousin Trevor is just a month older than him. It's already so fun to have such a close cousin. We get to watch Trevor doing cute new things and know that Lincoln is coming up behind him.
We're grateful to have family that we see often so we can build close and lasting family relationships. We look forward to all the fun memories we will have together in the future!

Professor Lincoln

Grandma Sharp put her reading glasses on Lincoln. To him it was serious business, but it was hilarious to the rest of us! Check out the diamond rims!

Best Buds

Lincoln and I are lucky to have some great friends. Once a week we get together with Hayley and Maddox, and Britney and Dax for a playdate! We trade off hosting eachother at our homes. We visit, eat, play with babies, eat, go on walks, eat...! It's nice to talk to someone who's in your same boat, and share the things we are learning as we're all new moms. So, I guess the playdates are more for us girls right now, but I'm sure the babies will appreciate them more down the road. Occasionaly the dads (Derek, Derik, and Greg) meet up with us after work and we get to hang out with them too. We hope this continues forever! Hayley and I with Maddox and Lincoln

A Real Mother

This Mother's Day was the best! Derek gave me some new shoes and a new pair of jeans...something I really wanted after the pregnancy! Even though Linc was only 2 1/2 weeks old, I really wanted to go to church for a little bit. Derek and I took Lincoln and sat in the very back during Sacrament Meeting. I loved listening to the talks. They all touched me so much, especially since I was a new Mom. At the end of the meeting we snuck out and headed down to Lehi to celebrate with Derek's family. Carolyn, we love you and are grateful for the wonderful Mom and Grandma you are! I got a cute picture board for Linc's room from Derek's parents and a framed picture of Lincoln from Derek's sister Candice...so fun! After dinner at the Peterson's, we came back to West Jordan to wish my Mom a Happy Mother's Day. Mom, once again, you're the best! I love and appreciate you so much! I hope I can be the best Mom, like you! I'm so thankful for the oppurtunity I have to be a real Mom now!

A Splishin' and a Splashin'

Lincoln has always loved bathtime. We started putting him in the sink for a bath, then quickly grew into his baby tub. Since that didn't give him enough room to kick and splash we are into the big tub now. I'm so glad he likes the water! It really has been a lifesaver. When Linc gets fussy we just throw him in the tub and he calms right down. He even loves and occasional shower with his Daddy! And at the end of it all, he can't wait to get wrapped up tight and cuddled! That's my favorite part!
